1) Note the time you have to perform the detailing service, quick review the project & plan
your time frames to commit.

2) When removing spots from carpets and upholstery, always start with the least aggressive
method. Be sure to clean the entire carpet first to see if the stain will come out with a normal
extracting methods. No luck - identify if it is an oil based stain or water based stain and
proceed with oil - grease spot remover - or your water based spot remover.

3) Keep your new detailers educated. Make sure that everyone knows the products and services
you are performing, and stay up to date on technology, and new techniques.

4) Perform the final check test. Before sending the vehicle back to the lot or for delivery. One
last check, for something you may have missed. Pass & Fail Checklist is recommended.

5) Use a detail chair for sitting while performing lower detail work. This helps you focus on the
small faults on the lower sections, especially rims.

6) Always spray down wheels with cool water before applying any product. Hot wheels will
make the cleaning agent way too aggressive.

7) To identify coated aluminum or magnesium wheels take a cloth and apply a small amount
of Clear Glaze in a discreet area and rub gently. If the towel turns black then the wheels are
not clear coated.

8) Tires and rims require a softer brush than many detailers realize. If the bristles hurt your
skin, they are too stiff. Remember: The most aggressive method is not the best.

9) Always store your polishers on their back, and not on the pad. This will keep your pads and
backing plates from warping.

10) When in doubt do not throw out. The interior of a customers vehicle is very private to
them, making it sometimes difficult to determine what is trash and what are possessions. Place
everything you are unsure of in a plastic bag and let the customer sort through it.
